Your new work environment 

As Legal Manager Operations & Innovation, you will join the Ahold Delhaize legal community. Key areas of work in this community are covered by dedicated teams, each with their own expertise. For European part, this concerns the legal teams for Technology; Data Privacy; Commerce, as well as the team Projects & M&A and Legal Operations, of which you will be a member.  
 
In your role you will be cooperating closely with, and support, all those legal teams. Also, you will work closely with other teams within AD, both locally and globally, including at Group level with the legal team for Corporate Affairs (including Company Secretariat) as well as the teams Public Affairs and Compliance & Ethics, as may be required from time to time. 
 
Joining the team means you’ll work with a group of energetic, open-minded and highly qualified colleagues. You will drive, together with the Director Legal Strategy, M&A and Operations (Chief of Staff), the development and implementation of the legal department’s strategic roadmap.

You will have the freedom to create, and to produce tangible results. You’ll collaborate closely with the team, including the Specialists Legal Operations & Innovation, and with stakeholders across the organization to improve efficiency, optimize workflows, and support key legal operations projects.  

 

Key responsibilities of your role 

You are critical to help shape and further innovate legal function. Your role is highly diverse and encompasses various responsibilities. In this diverse and impactful role, you will play a key part in shaping and advancing the Legal Operations function. Working closely with the Director Legal Strategy, M&A and Operations, you improve efficiency, collaboration, and overall performance. 

Your key responsibilities include: 

  • You will help define and implement the Legal Operations strategy and long-term roadmap, ensuring continuous progress on strategic priorities. 
  • You will oversee the legal department’s budgets and external legal spend, while also strengthening partnerships with external legal service providers.  
  • You will drive knowledge sharing and improve information governance  
  • Leveraging technology is central to this role.  
  • You will also support broader organizational initiatives, with a focus on team development and operational excellence.

Requirements 

We think you’ll be best geared for success if you meet the following requirements: 

  • At least 6 years of experience in legal practice 
  • Master of Law preferred (LLM in Legal Management is a plus) 
  • Based in the Netherlands

Prepare for the interview

Once we’ve reviewed your CV and cover letter, we’ll decide whether we’re a good fit for each other. After that, we’ll invite you for an interview an informal conversation in which we get to know one another a bit better, and discuss details about the Match Day you’ll attend.

Get ready for Matching Day

D-day! On Matching Day, you’ll learn more about the organization and its family of brands. You’ll be talking to associates from different departments. In addition, there’ll be lots of (former) trainees present who are happy to answer all the questions you might have. How do you prepare? Just be yourself, ask plenty of questions and think carefully about what you wish to learn and achieve during the internship. Spoiler alert: 80% of our attendees get to go home with a signed internship contract.
